At 7 days of age, the intrusion volume is higher for CEM I samples under condition B. However, this volume is similar for the majority of the samples at 90 days of age, independently of environmental conditions. The pore volume of a majority of ranges decreased with time. From these results, it can be concluded that the higher RH accelerates the hydration reactions of CEM I samples, and then the pore volume of the majority of ranges decreases mainly at early ages. B. The intrusion volume decreased quickly for samples under condition A.

This work enables us to comment on the evolution of corrosion during the depassivation period. It has been used to illustrate the need to represent not only the corrosion rate, but also the accumulated corrosion depth as a better means of studying corrosion behavior. 1 Experimental Materials Concrete or mortar specimens of size 15 ´ 20 ´ 10 cm were fabricated. Each specimen contained ten reinforcing steel bars, 8 mm in diameter, embedded at various depths in order to have different cover depths.

The current flowing between the steel and the counter electrode was monitored during the tests by an AGILENT 34970A datalogger. 1 Results Progressive chloride addition Figure 2 shows an average of the corrosion potential of the three bars (which presented very similar individual values) after each chloride addition. It can be observed that the potential evolves towards more negative values during the progressive increase of chloride addition to the electrolyte. 5 M. The trend however is not continuous as the potential drops to values around -570mV with small addition of chlorides and after, it shifts to values around to -470mV to finally reach again -570mV.
